Stockton mine location on map of New Zealand

(65 percent equity share via BT Mining)

Stockton is an open cut mine located on the West Coast producing a low-ash metallurgical coal for export – it’s a very high-value resource as an essential component used in steelmaking.

Sales and production targets were met during the year. Significant investment was made in yellow goods, which are better suited to the terrain at the Stockton mine, and form part of a longer-term strategy of reducing high cost hire machinery.

The long-term mine plan has been set to achieve a steady production rate of 1.2 Mtpa for the next four years, which includes both an operational as well as a marketing focus, ensuring that the coal that will be achieved will have a reliable customer demand.
